Ericson of Sweden
The Ericson of Sweden hat and cap factory was started in the Swedish town of Borlänge in 1885 by Carl Theodor Ericson. Mr. Ericson was a fourth-generation hat maker, and when he passed on in 1927, his son Nils carried on with the family business. The business flourished, and the factory grew more extensive in 1943. The number of workers peaked at 230 in the 50s, and the factory was the biggest supplier of work for women in Borlänge at the time. Today, the production of their hats has not changed much in 100 years. Their sewists still do every step by hand, making each hat and cap unique.
