Harley of Scotland
Harley of Scotland, known initially as “Glenugie Knitwear,” was established in 1929 by fisherman Peter Harley. He got his inspiration from visiting Orkney, Shetland, and the Fair Isles, where he observed the traditional hand-knit industries and striking patterning of the Fair Isle. Since then, they have been a British pioneer of three-dimensional, seam-free, whole-garment knitwear. This technique merges a traditional glove-like fit with cutting-edge knit technology. They carefully knit pure new wool with zero yarn waste. The Harley of Scotland’s factory is still located on the original factory site, a herring fish yard.
