About Gloverall

Gloverall is home to the original duffle coat design. Since its inception in 1951, the foundations of Gloverall have always been rooted in the sensibilities of British fashion and culture. They got their start five years after the end of World War II. Gloves and Overall wholesalers H&F Morris, Harold, and Freda, were offered a large quantity of surplus military Duffle Coats which quickly sold out in camping and leisurewear shops. This success prompts Harold, son of a master tailor, and Freda to produce their Duffle coats for their new company Gloverall. Harold decides to refine the duffle coats. He replaces the thick jute rope fasters, which can be difficult to attach to the coats, with leather straps. He also introduces an Italian checkback fabric.
